tl;dr: First-come first-served registration for Spring HSSP closes on
Thursday, Feb 23rd. Add and drop classes on the student portal
<https://esp.mit.edu/learn/HSSP/2023_Spring/studentreg> by then!

The second phase of Spring HSSP registration is now open! If you missed the
lottery deadline or want to add another class to your schedule, you can do
so now until Thursday Feb 23rd, 11:59pm EST on the student portal
<https://esp.mit.edu/learn/HSSP/2023_Spring/studentreg>.

If you entered the Spring HSSP class lottery previously, the results have
now been released and you can view your assigned classes on the website.
Before doing so, please read this entire email as it contains important
information for you to attend Spring HSSP.

Financial aid and payment

Before you view your lottery results or sign up for classes, you will be
shown the financial aid application. Financial limitations should not
prevent anyone from participating in Spring HSSP, so please request
financial aid if the cost is at all an issue!

If you are not requesting financial aid, you can pay for Spring HSSP online
by credit card at the registration page by clicking “Credit Card Payment”. The
cost of Spring HSSP is $50; this covers all classes you are taking for the
6 weeks. Besides paying online with a card, you will be able to pay in cash
or check or request financial aid when checking in for the program on the
first weekend, Saturday, Feb 25th.

You can also pre-order a Spring HSSP t-shirt for $10 online. If you want to
do so, make sure to click the “Reserve T-Shirts” link on the registration
portal before paying!

Adding and dropping classes

If you entered the class lottery, you can now view your assigned classes on
the student portal <https://esp.mit.edu/learn/HSSP/2023_Spring/studentreg>.
During this phase of registration, you will be able to add any classes that
still have open slots on a first-come first-served basis, or drop classes
you are no longer interested in. You can do this on the student portal
until 11:59pm on Thursday, Feb 23rd. Note that our website may be slow to
update, so a class might appear to have room even if it is full. Please be
patient and refresh the page if this happens. We cannot make exceptions to
add students to full classes.

If you’re really keen on taking a class but it’s full, you can check back
occasionally - slots might open up as others add and drop classes. If you
are no longer planning to attend a class, please drop the class on the
website so that others may take your spot.

Lecture series

In addition to normal classes, Spring HSSP also has lecture series, which
are classes designed for students to attend without signing up in advance.
Different topics are covered each week, so come if you have free hours in
your schedule! Information about lecture series will be shared each week.

Program logistics

More information about attending will be emailed to you a few days before
the program starts, so keep an eye on the email linked to your student
account. Before attending Spring HSSP, you’ll need to either request
financial aid or pay the program fees, and you (or your parent, if you’re
under 18) will need to complete a liability waiver that we’ll send out
soon. Both of these steps can be completed in-person at check-in, but we
recommend you complete them online to save time!

We look forward to seeing you at Spring HSSP this year! Feel free to email
us at spring-hssp at mit.edu with any questions.

Best,

Eunice, Gilford, and Jessica
