Dear ESP Students,

The MIT Educational Studies Program is pleased to announce that you can
still register for Splash 2018 during the first-come first-served
registration period! Splash is for students in grades 9–12 and will run
November 17 and 18, the weekend before Thanksgiving. Sign up for any of 400
classes!

Lottery and Class Changes

The lottery period of Splash registration is over. If you missed the
deadline, there is still a chance to add classes for Splash 2018.

Starting at 7pm ET on November 1st, you can add classes with open spots to
your schedule. These adjustments are dependent on open availability in
classes and will be on a first-come-first-served basis and will continue
until 11:59pm on November 10th. Note that our website may be slow due to
high traffic; as a result, a class may momentarily seem to have room even
if it has been filled. Please be patient and refresh the page if you
encounter this.

Many classes will likely be full or nearly full, but check back
occasionally, as new spaces may open up. If you no longer wish to attend a
class, or cannot make it to Splash, please unregister on the website so
that others may take your spot. When class changes opens on November 1st,
you will be able to access it at <
http://esp.mit.edu/learn/Splash/student.html>.

Liability Form

When you check in on the day of Splash, you'll need to give us a liability
waiver signed by a parent or guardian. To speed up the check-in process,
please download the waiver <https://esp.mit.edu/splash_liability> and ask
your parent to sign it ahead of time. If you will be coming to Splash
without a parent, make sure to bring a signed copy of the waiver with you!

Program Payment, Meal Tickets, and T-Shirts

After we open class changes, you may pay for Splash online by credit card
at <http://esp.mit.edu/learn/Splash/student.html> by November 10th. You
also have the option of reserving and pre-paying for Splash meal tickets
and t-shirts. Please note that you must select all extras (such as meal
tickets and t-shirts) before paying online. If you don't want to pay by
credit card, you will be able to pay with cash or by check when you arrive
at Splash. The cost of Splash is $40, but generous financial aid is readily
available. If you wish to apply for financial aid, you may do so at the
above link.

Who Can Request Your Splash Schedule

To protect your privacy, your schedule is only accessible after logging
into your account. You will also receive a paper copy with room locations
when you check in at Splash. We will only release the location of your last
class to at most three individuals (such as parents or guardians) whom you
name on this form <esp.mit.edu/splash_access>. If you do not fill out this
form, we cannot release your schedule to anyone.

Walk-in Activities

In addition to normal classes, Splash also has walk-in activities, which
are classes designed to let students attend at any point without requiring
sign up. You can find more information about walk-in activities, including
their schedule, at <http://esp.mit.edu/learn/Splash/walkinactivities.html>.
If you want to attend a particular walk-in instead of a class that the
lottery placed you in, please remove that class from your schedule so that
someone else can take your spot. On the other hand, if you have some free
hours in your schedule, consider attending some walk-ins!

During an Emergency

In case of an emergency during Splash, call MIT Police at (617) 253-1212
(they respond faster than 911 on campus). You should also call our
team at (617)
253-4882 so that we’re aware of the emergency. If you wish to receive text
notifications in the case of an emergency on campus, we encourage you to
sign up for text alerts from MIT Alert by visiting <
http://em2.mit.edu/mitalert/>.

Donating to Learning Unlimited

If you enjoy Splash and want to contribute to an organization that helps
other schools around the country organize Splashes, please visit this link
<https://www.learningu.org/participate/> to donate!

If you have any questions, feel free to email us at <splash at mit.edu>. We
look forward to seeing you at Splash!

Best,

Luke and Sarah
