*Greetings from the Educational Studies Program!Thank you for signing up at
<https://esp.mit.edu <https://esp.mit.edu/>>! You are receiving this email
because you have an account on our website. We have a program running soon
and have an update on another program this summer, which you can find more
information about below.**Registration for Spark is now open! *The first
phase of registration is a class lottery that goes from now until February
28, available at <https://esp.mit.edu/learn/Spark/index.html>. Any rankings
you submit between now and the deadline will be considered equally in the
lottery, so there's no need to rush.

*What is Spark?*
Spark is a two day program on March 14-15 for middle school students in
grades 7-8. Come to MIT for a weekend and take a bunch of awesome classes
on a variety of interesting topics. Some of the classes we're offering this
year are:

- Calculate Pi with Trains!
- Fashion Design: From Concept to Runway
- How does Hearing Work?
- Quirky Linguistics

A full catalog of classes is available at the registration page and <
https://esp.mit.edu/learn/Spark/2015/view_classes>. The cost of this
program is $40 for both days, and this includes lunch on both days. As with
all our programs, generous financial aid is available.

If you have any questions, please email us at <spark at mit.edu>. We look
forward to seeing you at Spark!

*Important Changes to Junction Program*
Beginning this year, Junction will become a two-week intensive program
where students will work on an independent study project of their choosing,
guided by a mentor who is knowledgeable in the field. Before the program
starts, students will work with their mentors to refine their proposal and
begin preparing for their project so that by the end of the program,
students will have completed an in-depth independent study. In addition to
executing their independent study, students will participate in diverse,
hands-on afternoon seminars in a variety of college-level topics.

More information about the structure of Junction will be available on our
website by mid-March at <https://esp.mit.edu/learn/Junction/index.html> and
the application will be available by mid-April. If you're wondering why
Junction is changing, please see <https://esp.mit.edu/learn/newjunction.html
>.
