Hello everyone!

Thank you for registering for an account at <esp.mit.edu>. You are receiving
this email because you wanted to learn more about the programs we run—for
example, Summer HSSP, a seven week program with classes on a variety of
interesting subjects, and Delve, our year-long program for studying an AP
class in-depth!

What is Summer HSSP?

Summer HSSP is a seven week program that allows students to get an in-depth
look at topics that they find interesting. It will run on Sundays from July
10th to August 21st. Classes are divided into three time blocks (10am-12pm,
1pm-2:30pm, and 2:30-4pm, with a break for lunch from 12p-1p), so students
can enroll in up to three distinct classes. The course catalog for Summer
HSSP is now posted here
<http://esp.mit.edu/learn/HSSP/2011_Summer/catalog>; all
listed classes meet weekly for the duration of the program. The fee for the
entire program is $30; the registration timeline is below. Additional
information is also available at esp.mit.edu/learn/HSSP/index.html or by
e-mailing summer-hssp at mit.edu.

What is Delve?

Want to explore an academic topic in depth? Delve is a program which takes
students deeper into science, math, and social studies topics and prepares
them to take Advanced Placement exams. Students attend classes from 10:00
AM to 3:00 PM with a break for lunch on Sundays from September to May.
Class offerings are not yet finalized, but will definitely include AP
Calculus, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, and AP Biology. More information is
available at esp.mit.edu/learn/Delve/index.html or by emailing delve at mit.edu.
Student registration will begin in early July.

Summer HSSP 2011 Registration

The first phase of registration for Summer HSSP is a class *lottery*.
Registration *opens Friday, June 3rd*, lasts for two weeks, and *closes
Friday, June 17th*. Since this is the lottery phase, there is no advantage
to registering early! Students, take your time and choose which classes look
most interesting to you. Note that your choices are *only preferences*, and
are *not guaranteed* enrollments. To maximize your chances of getting a full
schedule, you should pick 3 classes for each of the 3 time blocks. You can
change your lottery preferences any time before June 17th. Then log back
onto the ESP website on or after June 21st to view the classes you were
placed into. For more detailed information on the lottery system and how to
register go here <http://esp.mit.edu/learn/HSSP/lottery_info.html>.

The remaining spaces in the classes will be filled during *First Come, First
Served* registration, which will be open between Tuesday, June 21st and
Tuesday, July 5th. During this period, students may *enroll* in any* open
classes (forfeiting their current enrollment during that time block, if they
have one). Students who missed the lottery may also register for HSSP and
enroll in classes during this time.

* A select few classes will have application questions, which the students
must answer in order to request a class during the lottery. Classes with
application questions cannot be enrolled in during First come, first served
registration.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to e-mail us at
summer-hssp at mit.edu.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing many of you!
