Splash! splash at mit.edu
Thu Oct 21 22:34:28 EDT 2010

Hello from the MIT Educational Studies Program,

Thank you for signing up at <http://esp.mit.edu>. You are receiving this
email because you wanted to learn more about the programs we run—for
example, Splash, a weekend-long extravaganza of classes and activities on
the MIT campus! You can read more about Splash at our website
(http://esp.mit.edu/learn/Splash/index.html<http://esp.mit.edu/learn/Splash/index.html>
).

MIT ESP would like to bring you updates about:

- Splash 2010 Walk-in Seminars
- Splash 2010 Catalog
- Splash 2010 Registration Date
- Boston College Splash

 *Splash 2010 Walk-in Seminars*

This year, Splash is introducing a new type of flexible class called a walk
-in seminar. If you find yourself with nothing to do between classes or want
a break from the ordinary lectures, come over to the walk-in seminars and
learn something fun! You don’t need to register for seminars. Just drop by
whenever you have some free time and play a game of Set, make yourself a
duct tape wallet, learn to DJ, or do a little acting!

*Splash 2010 Catalog*

The Splash 2010 Catalog will be available for viewing today, Thursday
October 21st.

The link for the catalog is at <http://esp.mit.edu/learn/Splash/2010/catalog>.
Take a look at classes so far!

We will continue to update the catalog with more classes in the next few
days. The classes have not been scheduled yet, so there are no definite
times or capacities for the classes, but they will be scheduled by the end
of this weekend.
*Splash 2010 Registration*

Splash 2010 student registration opens next week. There is no advantage to
registering right away, since there is a lottery system that will run
starting Tuesday, October 26th through November 2nd. After that, we will
have first-come-first-served registration running from November 6th to
November 14th.

Please *do not* rush to register at a particular time next week. Doing so
will overload our servers and slow down the registration process for
everyone. Take your time, and pick the classes you like most.

The link to register will be on this page when registration is open: <
http://esp.mit.edu/learn/Splash/index.html>. More information about the
registration process, including the new lottery system can be found at <
http://esp.mit.edu/learn/Splash/studentregFAQ.html>.

*Boston College Splash*

MIT ESP is happy to introduce a sister program, Boston College Splash, which
will be running on Saturday, November 6th, and registration is already open
at bcsplash.learningu.org:

This year, Boston College students will be running a Splash! Immerse
yourself on the BC campus, connect with the undergraduates, and learn about
something that would never be offered at your high school. BC Splash has a
unique liberal arts flavor, with classes ranging from "Political Structure
and Policies in the World of Harry Potter" to "The Art of Movement: Parkour
and Freerunning" to "The Philosophy of Rock and Roll", along with a number
of classes on math and science topics as well. The program is free for all
high school students and course registration is now open. For the complete
course catalog and more information on how to sign up, please visit the
website at bcsplash.learningu.org or reach them by email at
bcsplash at gmail.com and phone at 617-297-7524.

MIT ESP hopes to see you at Splash!
